I have a love hate relationship with deer. (Should I confess this on a nature focused blog?!) Their ability to leap over tall buildings in a single bound enthralls me, and they can look quite majestic and beautiful as they pause in their eating to perk up their ears. On the other hand, they can make driving through the park at night a James Bond style dangerous mission, and when you wake up to find they’ve devoured your newly planted perennials, they can bring me to tears. This past year though, the deer have won me over, and I’m always excited to see them in my yard, just in case the albino deer is with them. The albino deer in our neighborhood is so unusual and beautiful that I am always scanning my yard for a chance to see her. The picture above is unfortunately not one I have taken myself. Here is the best that I could do, please be kind!
I think she kind of likes me, see how she posed for her photo-op? Truth be told, I really like her too. Hopefully she will pop into my yard again soon and we can have another photo session. Until then, have you ever seen an albino animal in the wild? Leave a comment if you have, I would really love to hear about it. Come back on Science Sunday where I tell you what I learned about albino deer.
